The Development Team


One of the principals in the development of Woodland Creek is Gary Kerns. The Kerns family has been building quality homes for over 50 years. In 1953 Gary's grandfather started the tradition of building quality homes. Gary's father began building homes under the name Kerns Homebuilders, Inc. in 1963.


About Gary Kern

After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Construction Engineering in 1990, Gary assumed more responsibilities with his father's company. In 2000, when Gary's father retired from the homebuilding industry, Gary elected to carry on the tradition of Kerns Homebuilders under the name of Gary Kerns Homebuilding, LLC.


Three generations of Kerns have been committed to building quality homes for their clients and by so doing building a quality reputation with the expectation that this legacy will be passed on to future generations. Gary Kerns Homebuilders is 100% committed to customer satisfaction.


The History

Over the years, Gary has received numerous awards for the workmanship, superior construction, quality of materials used and attention to detail. The latest recognition consists of two Grand Award winners in the annual Greater Kansas City Parade of Homes. These homes were the "Pick of the Parade" in their respective price categories. In the entire Kansas City area there were only 29 of these awards given.


The Future

At Woodland Creek, Gary is teaming with Spyglass Development to build homes under the name of Newcastle Homes, LLC. Scott Laderoute is the principle of Spyglass Development. Scott has extensive experience developing quality residential communities such as Lakes at Oakmont in Platte City, Lake at 12 Oaks, Carriage Oaks and Eagle Ridge in St. Joseph to name a few.
